Afternoon Delight Laughy Taffy?

Once I sit down at the desk and try to plan the day things
get a little more into focus. I sit and look at the wall above,
try to center, try to be a better person. I think of my mom
sitting across the other room eating her breakfast and drinking
coffee. We listen to the news. I daydream a little, then it is time.

I write a little and then maybe blog or answer my mail. It is off to
the studio which is in the bottom floor of the house. I have lots of
room in which to work and every possible thing I could want to use.
Way too much, actually, and that is why I like to bring students here.
I give them the materials they might like to use and any help they ask me
to give.
This is totally separate from my classes at school. It is the most rewarding
thing to see teenagers who have that creative spirit work, it helps me.
I usually am working on twenty two things at once. It is crazy to see.
But, it makes perfect sense to my art spirit.
What is happening today, is that two projects have collided, They are both
bouncing off of each other and the process is amazing. It happens serendipitously,
Is that a word? Anyways, I am in the process of it all and I thought you might like
to see a bit. I am in the midst of couching some cord onto the silk indigo dyed shibori
that I pleated last year and dyed this year. There are hand stitches going onto the
cloth, as well. I have recycled some old silk which I am adding as layers.
This is enjoyable to work on as I am giving my body a chance to regenerate.
I have a tendency to go non-stop and the last time I did that I ended up with
Pneumonia. Which I am close to right now. It is a glorious day outside. I will pop out
to enjoy the warmth of this September day.
I have been looking through the LACIS site this morning trying to find a certain type of thread.
I used to hang out there a lot when I lived near there. It is hard not to be able to hop into the car
and be there in person. If you ever are in Berkeley, California, you simply must drop in to see all
of the fiber wonder.
Jude Hill talks about a certain kind of thread that she likes to use and I thought maybe
they might have it there. Do you know about the magic feather project? Google it.

So much wonderful stitch work in this piece. Just remember to take some breaks... we don't want you getting sick!

Don't you just love it...those days in the studio when everything hums or perhaps bounces!
